HollBurd and Hermiston

Earlier this month I couldn't resist a road trip to Hermiston for some play time and prep time with Holly and Burd before they officially become parents - which could be ANY DAY NOW!

It's late tonight, so I won't go into a lot of detail. But you know me, I have plenty of pictures to tell my story. So I'm going to throw them on the blog, add a few captions, and send this post out to family blogland. But let it be said...I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS LITTLE BABY TO COME!

Holly and I spent her birthday in Walla Walla, Washington - the cutest and quaintest little city. This is an amazing toy store on Main Street called the Inland Octopus.

Toy heaven.

Yep, I bought Gumby. He likes to get in my pictures. Pokey ended up in Holly's bag. Sneaky little toy.

Holly thought this might be just the Easter present for Burd, since he loves wind musical instruments.

The whole town was "April Fooled" with knitted accessories, including this tree.

April Fools with the yarn again.

I want this book.

Some day I'll buy these books for Asher.

An adorable quilt in the window of a store that sold fabric, vacuums, and hot tubs. A quite nice combination, if you're in the market for one or another.

This is a wall full of historical murals. Incredible.

Bet you can't guess what this is.

This mural fascinates me.

April Fools again.

Aw! Isn't she cute with her belly full of daughter!

Whitman College is in Walla Walla. Really quaint and beautiful. It will cost you over $50,000 a year if you want to attend. Keep that in mind as you mull it over.

This was only half of the tree. The other half is up and out of the picture. We were there at the peak of the blossom time. It looked like something out of a story book.

I'm thinking these flowers are AZALEAS!

Who can verify for me?!

All I can do is laugh at this little guy! He thinks he's being so sneaky.

This guy was a real poser. This was a fun park just full of fat squirrels running all over.

Hello. I have wings on my head and a mohawk.

I'm metallic. Or so it seems.

I live in a comfy bird sanctuary and people come to see me in all my glory all the way from Utah.

These guys were comical. They stuck together and waddled around the bird sanctuary and park.

They were inseparable. The one in the middle seemed to be the boldest. He has an bulbulous beak.

Into the water they went. Still staying together.

Ya'all come back now.

Hey you down there with the camera - take my picture.

Want to go for a spin? These beautiful wheels were outside a vintage second-hand shop that we couldn't resist perusing.

We came upon these beauties as we drove through a little town on our way back home. That's a part bike, part lawn mower contraption. Genius. I want one.

Stopped to mail Asher an Easter package.

A better look at the bike mower.

Gumby and Pokey were just like kids on the way home. They wanted to stop and climb on everything.

We started a sewing marathon that night - diaper bag, car seat cover, and changing pad cover. We each had our laptops nearby with our tutorials in view. Forget store-bought patterns!

We made pizzas for Holly's birthday dinner. YUM! Happy birthday to you!

You'll have to pop over to HollBurd's blog sometime to see more of this project.

Those toys. Always getting in the picture.

Ta-da! It's a changing pad cover. I was just imagining how little baby girl Barker would look laying it in, getting her diaper changed.

The sorting of the baby girl clothes! We did four loads I think. People have been so generous! Thank you!!!!!

(quick intake of breath!) I made this little blanket! I bought the fabric a year ago, not knowing I would be stitching it up for a granddaughter soon!

All hands on deck! Let's get these clothes washed and ready!

Holly and Burd have a really nice park not too far from them. It has a great walking trail and some fields and open area surrounding it.

We got a few miles walking in and even ventured off the paved trail and roamed the fields. I loved the Hermiston sky. My foot found a hole and couldn't resist getting twisted up in in. I survived. Don't worry,

She walks that belly every day! Strong little mommy-to-be!

Sneak peak at the finished bag. Holls, have you blogged this yet?!

This was before it was finished. Oops! Can you spot the trouble?! (Good thing I brought my stitch ripper.)

Later on...ta-da!

You're such a sweetie Burd! You even checked out the inside of the bag! I love you!

Isn't this the CUTEST FABRIC EVER?!

Ta-da! They just need to get the baby out of the tummy and into the carrier!

Phew! That was 64 pictures. If you're here, congratulations, you made it to the end! What a fun trip I had. Now the next trip will be even more fun, because...I will be holding the baby! Stay tuned!
